How to check coverage properly
Coverage maps are forecasts, not promises. Five steps separate postcode facts from marketing weather — before you sign anything.
The five-step check
Read indoor and outdoor forecasts as separate facts. For a budget brand, look up the host — the table is in the budget brands section.
The regulator grades all four physical networks by one standard — the antidote to marketing optimism.
Foil insulation and modern glazing devour signal; the back bedroom is where complaints are born.
One month on the host network (or any brand riding it) tests your actual rooms, commute and workplace — the only evidence that counts.

Reading results honestly
The checker says 5G in my town but 4G at my house — which matters?
The layer at your address. If home shows 4G only, judge the network on its 4G there; town-centre 5G is irrelevant to your sofa.
What does 'variable' indoor coverage mean?
Exactly what it says: fine by the window, poor at the back. Assume the pessimistic reading for the rooms you live in.
I checked last year — still valid?
No. Masts are added, upgraded and re-tuned constantly; recheck before every decision.
